This guide is part of the Body Confidence Course, a free video series where acclaimed sex coach Georgia Grace and psychologist Rashida Dungarwalla share the insights and exercises they use to help their clients build more body confidence every day.
If you experience feelings of low confidence in your body, the mirror might be the last thing you want to spend some time in front of—but we encourage you to use it as a tool of discovery and exploration.
Mirror work can be a powerful tool when it comes to sex, and it’s often used to develop self-love, work on self-care, and create a more dynamic relationship with your body. It can be confronting, intimidating and, at first, a little embarrassing, but it can also be insightful, fun and intimate.
To start, set up a comfortable and private space in your home. Breathe, and do what you need to become present.
- With a mirror, gaze at your genitals for as long as you like
You may stop this inquiry here, but if you’re curious and want to explore:
- Locate the different organs of the anatomy
- Explore these organs with a variety of touch, pressure and sensation
- Using lube, see if you can find pleasurable ways to stimulate each part of your genitals
